    Description

    The Montbéliarde is large and has a robust constitution, the legs are dry and hard, strong quality and rather coarse than fine. The rear hand is nice and straight, the step is powerful and straight forward. The claw is high from behind with a short claw diagonal. This corresponds to the steeper leg position.

    The rump of the Montbéliarde is constructive spacious and sloping. A spacious and sloping rump makes calving easier and also the afterbirth comes off more easily. The strong, broad build and spacious building of muscle makes for a cow which is always in good condition.

    A negative energy balance is foreign to the Montbéliarde, they begin their lactation quietly and after that show a flat lactation curve. It is a breed with good persistence by nature. The spacious built sloping rump, the rugged build and persistence in lactation are the main reasons for the above-average fertility of the breed.
    The udder of a Montbéliarde is of excellent quality and structure. The udder increases in volume as the number of lactations grow.

    SPECIFICATIONS

    In 2000, 358.000 cows were good for a (mature) milk production of 7.303 kg with 3,90% fat and 3,40% protein in 316 days. This production is realized on the basis of a simple diet, with lots of roughage (hay, grass silage and/or corn) and with simple supplementation of concentrates and/or crushed grain.

    The ease with which the cow produces and the flat lactation curve is a strong characteristic of the breed. Due to the low fat and high protein levels the Montbéliarde is ideal for optimal utilization of the quota, because the fat reference is spared.

    It takes 24 hours to receive and process your order. Orders placed by 11:59 p.m. EST Sunday – Wednesday have the option to ship out the next day for earliest possible overnight delivery (on the drop-down calendar, the earliest delivery date shows in red.)  Otherwise, you may choose another delivery date using the same drop-down calendar.

    Due to the perishable nature of our product, we ship all orders to arrive overnight. Orders shipping within approximately 100 miles of New York City are guaranteed overnight via FedEx Ground. Orders shipping outside this area ship overnight via FedEx Standard Overnight. Orders may be delivered as late as 8pm on the date of scheduled delivery. All orders must be shipped, we are not able to accommodate any pick-ups at our premises.

    Please note: Not all addresses are deliverable via FedEx Standard Overnight, and those destinations will incur an additional charge for Priority Overnight delivery.

    If you would like Saturday delivery and provided the delivery address is serviced by FedEx on Saturdays, additional charges will apply (add $30 for Standard Overnight, or Full FedEx Metered Rate for Express).

    During December and other peak periods, we may require additional days to process and deliver your order and will inform you of any unusual delays. Due to winter weather, and other events that are out of our control, deliveries may be delayed, and on time delivery is out of our control. Outside of weather interference, we do everything we can to ensure on-time delivery.

    We ship all packages with “Signature Release,” which means that no signature is required for delivery. We cannot ship to PO Boxes.

    Our meats will stay perfectly in the refrigerator for up to five days if left in their original packaging; you may also freeze any purchase from our because we ship meats FRESH (unless otherwise noted) and when you thaw meat for enjoyment, let it thaw in the refrigerator slowly, over at least two days before cooking. We do not recommend freezing meats or poultry for longer than three months. Items shipped frozen will thaw during shipping and may be re-frozen or refrigerated and enjoyed within five days of delivery.

    IMPORTANT INFORMATION

    We will not assume responsibility for any incorrect addresses provided to us; delivery, return and re-delivery charges will apply. We strongly recommend that when ordering perishable items, you confirm that the recipient or other responsible party will be available to receive, open and properly store your order. We are unable to replace products that perish due to recipient’s being unavailable at the time of delivery. Furthermore, please note that our boxes are clearly marked perishable on the outside and we are not responsible for the items received but not opened.

    We make every effort to ship most orders within 24 hours. Inclement weather and other unforeseen circumstances can cause shipments to arrive later than expected. We specifically encourage you to order prior to the week of THANKSGIVING AND CHRISTMAS to avoid unexpected delays and stock-outs.
