LACAUNE DAIRY LINE

The Lacaune is the most numerous sheep breed in France. It has been selected in France for increased milk production under a sophisticated selection program incorporating artificial insemination, milk recording, and progeny testing of sires for longer than any other dairy sheep breed in the world.

    Description

    Annual genetic improvement for milk yield in the French Lacaune is estimated at 2.4% or 5.7 kg (12.5 lbs). Lacaune ewes produce milk with higher total solids than the East Friesians, but in slightly less volume.The sheep of the Lacaune breed produce the milk which is responsible for the famous Roquefort cheese.

    It takes 24 hours to receive and process your order. Orders placed by 11:59 p.m. EST Sunday – Wednesday have the option to ship out the next day for earliest possible overnight delivery (on the drop-down calendar, the earliest delivery date shows in red.)  Otherwise, you may choose another delivery date using the same drop-down calendar.

    Due to the perishable nature of our product, we ship all orders to arrive overnight. Orders shipping within approximately 100 miles of New York City are guaranteed overnight via FedEx Ground. Orders shipping outside this area ship overnight via FedEx Standard Overnight. Orders may be delivered as late as 8pm on the date of scheduled delivery. All orders must be shipped, we are not able to accommodate any pick-ups at our premises.

    Please note: Not all addresses are deliverable via FedEx Standard Overnight, and those destinations will incur an additional charge for Priority Overnight delivery.

    If you would like Saturday delivery and provided the delivery address is serviced by FedEx on Saturdays, additional charges will apply (add $30 for Standard Overnight, or Full FedEx Metered Rate for Express).

    During December and other peak periods, we may require additional days to process and deliver your order and will inform you of any unusual delays. Due to winter weather, and other events that are out of our control, deliveries may be delayed, and on time delivery is out of our control. Outside of weather interference, we do everything we can to ensure on-time delivery.

    We ship all packages with “Signature Release,” which means that no signature is required for delivery. We cannot ship to PO Boxes.

    Our meats will stay perfectly in the refrigerator for up to five days if left in their original packaging; you may also freeze any purchase from our because we ship meats FRESH (unless otherwise noted) and when you thaw meat for enjoyment, let it thaw in the refrigerator slowly, over at least two days before cooking. We do not recommend freezing meats or poultry for longer than three months. Items shipped frozen will thaw during shipping and may be re-frozen or refrigerated and enjoyed within five days of delivery.

    IMPORTANT INFORMATION

    We will not assume responsibility for any incorrect addresses provided to us; delivery, return and re-delivery charges will apply. We strongly recommend that when ordering perishable items, you confirm that the recipient or other responsible party will be available to receive, open and properly store your order. We are unable to replace products that perish due to recipient’s being unavailable at the time of delivery. Furthermore, please note that our boxes are clearly marked perishable on the outside and we are not responsible for the items received but not opened.

    We make every effort to ship most orders within 24 hours. Inclement weather and other unforeseen circumstances can cause shipments to arrive later than expected. We specifically encourage you to order prior to the week of THANKSGIVING AND CHRISTMAS to avoid unexpected delays and stock-outs.

    MERINOS SHEEP

    The Merinos de Palas sheep breed was created and developed by Romanian researchers who wanted to produce a productive sheep. The breed was approved in 1960 as a mixed sheep breed, both grown for wool and meat production. Fast, sheep of this breed have been appreciated worldwide for their distinctive features. Physics description The sheep of the Merinos de Palas is one of the most advanced breeds in our country, raised for the production of meat and wool. She is a medium-sized sheep with a solid, harmonious, body-like body shape with a long body covered with thick white-cream fur. At maturity, Merino de Palas breeds reach a weight of 57-60 pounds and the rams at 99-105 kilograms. Productivity Merino de Palas sheep breed is considered the best sheep breed in Romania, appreciated internationally for its qualities. In fact, Merino de Palas rams are used to relieve other sheep breeds. The production of wool on rams of the Merinos de Palas is 12-14 kilograms and sheep of 6-8 kilograms.

    The Charollais sheep is of medium size, with a sturdy and well-proportioned body, strong bone, covered with well-developed muscles. The head, belly and limbs are not covered with wool. In the rest of the body, the wool is white, pigmented with small black spots. The chest is wide, the great forehead and the orbits distant, and the long, fine ears, mobile, of the same color as the wool on the body. The wool that covers the body is short, dense and fine.

Its primary role has been that of a terminal sire ( used in a commercial breeding program) , producing quick growing easy fleshed lambs capable of being finished at a range of weights to suit varying market specifications and demands.

    ROMANOV SHEEP

    Romanov ewes tend to lamb by the litter. Most other sheep give birth to singles and twins, while the Romanov average about 2-5 lambs per lambing. When the lambs are born they are pure black but when they get older they turn gray. Romanov wool (a mixture of gray wool and black guard hair) is used for rugs, mats, and wall hangings. The breed is currently raised mainly for meat production, but it is also pretty good for wool production. Wool of the Romanov sheep is very strong and resourceful. Their wool is double coated with mean diameter of wool fibers of 20.9 micrometers and 71.9 micrometers of outer-coat hair. Average greasy fleece weight is around 4.5 kg.

    The Suffolk breed is distinguished by the head and legs covered by a black fur. The rest of the body is covered with a white, coat, short, and dense fur. Additionally, the Suffolk Sheep has no horns. Oaia Sufflok is very energetic and alert, very prolific. It is not intended for wool production. It is marketed especially for meat, which is appreciated worldwide for its nutritional qualities. Sufoolk rams are used for breeding sheep of other breeds to obtain meat hybrids. These hybrids are destined for meat production and go directly to the butcher shops around the world. Main characteristics of Suffolk sheep Suffolk sheep’s meat is of high quality and has a superior taste, recognized by consumers around the world. Due to its resilience and elasticity, Suffolk sheep fur is used to make blankets and blankets, ideal for the cold season. Sufoolk rams are very prolific, so sometimes sheep can also give birth to 2-3 lambs, sometimes even 4. Suffolk breeds are born 150 days after mating and reach weaning around the age of about 100 days. Sheep from the Suffolk race adapts easily to any conditions and resists very well even at extreme temperatures.
